How BYOD Affects Security in the Cloud

It doesn’t look like the BYOD trend is going anywhere soon, as it becomes widely adopted and accepted at companies and schools across the nation.  In this CloudTweaks post Rick Blaisdell identifies some high level security concerns with the BYOD trend in the enterprise.  Blaisdell specifically mentions enterprises turning to SaaS, user error concerns and cloud’s impact on BYOD security.

CIOs moving beyond IT: Survey

 

One of Gartner’s surveys compiled a list to help rank the top CIO priorities in 2013 based on feedback from 2,053 CIOs.  In this ZDnet.com article Joe McKendrick helps to break down the study’s results.   The survey found that CIO IT budgets would be down .5%, which is in line with the past five years historically.  A lot of the priority rankings are as to be expected, but McKendrick points out one major shift is CIOs transforming into “Chief Digital Officers”, or “CDOs”, which will not only shift titles but he suggests it shifts their oversight to efforts to build new channels and markets.

IDC Report: 1.7 Million Cloud Computing Jobs Remain Unfilled, Gap Widening

Unemployment may still be high in many sectors in the US, but according a recent IDC report that trend is certainly not happening in cloud.  According to their report, in 2012 more than 1.7 million jobs related to cloud went unfilled.  The cite lack of training and certification as the reason behind this statistic.   The article goes on to cite the expectation of increased demand to continue through 2015.
