This Forbes article goes where few articles have gone before when looking at cloud… beyond just IT.  It seeks to describe a new study that looks at cloud’s impact on more than just the CIO, but rather rest of the business unit.

Joe McKendrick’s article quotes VP for Strategic Solutions at CA Technologies Andi Mann as saying, “CIOs need to help the business understand that the cloud has many other business advantages beyond cost efficiencies.”  The article identifies the need to get business executives supporting cloud as one of the most important steps a CIO can do for the future.

Mobile isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and the HIS study recently published supports that statement with data that stated PC shipments dropped by 8% in the third quarter of this year.  This Computerworld article focuses on the tie between mobile and cloud stating, “Smartphones and tablets are application consumption devices… the computing for that app typically resides elsewhere-in the cloud.”

Bernard Golden goes on to predict that cloud computing forecasts are “wildly undersized” and conjecture the biggest challenges for IT in the future.
