On Monday, Barack Obama’s technology team released a video touting the benefits of cloud computing and government transparency.
The team strives to make government institutions more effective by breaking from past technology trends of the former administration. In regards to the lack of innovation in the past, Vivek Kundra, CTO for Washington DC remarks:
"One of the biggest problems in the federal government is that process has trumped outcome… The biggest reason for that is that everyone is focused on compliance; nobody's thinking about innovation and how to drive change within the government."
Andrew McLaughlin, head of global public policy and government affairs for Google and long-time supporter of cloud services says that cloud computing "is an important change for the federal government because it is dramatically cheaper than the old fashioned way of doing computing infrastructure."
More effective & cheaper – what the government and all companies or agencies are in need of during this economic downturn.
