Virtualization is not for Amateurs

October 25, 2008 by Brian Wolff

Investors have many options when managing their portfolios, from the complete do-it-yourself approach of eTrade to full service broker, who consults, advises, and then manages transactions for you.  This same diversity of choices is available to companies considering a transition to a Virtual Server.

For the knowledgeable do-it-yourselfer, options such as Amazon or Rackspace may make sense.  But if this is not your core expertise, working with a full service provider will allow you to focus on the primary elements of running your business.

And there are risks to the do-it-yourself approach – as Jeff Boles  points out, there are so many options, trying to select the right one is a challenge.  And when it comes to Disaster Recovery, I believe it is not a mistake you can afford to make.
