Session #5312: Cloud-based Recovery-as-a-Service featuring eMeter, a Siemens Business

with Bluelock and eMeter, a Siemens Business

In this session, Bluelock CTO, Pat O’Day, discusses Bluelock’s holistic approach to cloud-based RaaS and Bryan Bond of eMeter talks about his real-world use case on how he’s using a VMware-based cloud to protect some of his most important systems and applications.

Most traditional DR solutions are cost-prohibitive, difficult to test and unreliable. When a disaster hits, be it natural or technological, it can be a laborious process to stand your environment back up.

Bluelock’s To-Cloud and In-Cloud RaaS offerings are disrupting traditional DR options because they provide easy testing, integrate seamlessly with management of existing hybrid or private cloud solutions and allow users to recover whole applications for quick, effective recovery after declaration. Pat O’Day will describe how the latest RaaS technologies are achieving and optimizing the appropriate balance between IT DR capabilities, affordability and risk mitigation.

eMeter, a Siemens company, specializes in software solutions for electric, gas and water utilities, was already sold on the benefits of vCloud thanks to their successful hybrid cloud deployment for their global training programs. When it came to DR for their internal VMware-based private cloud, however, there wasn’t a DR solution that got the job done. That is, until they discovered To-Cloud RaaS with their VMware vCloud Datacenter service provider partner, Bluelock. Bryan Bond of eMeter will discuss how quickly his RaaS solution was implemented, the benefits of having an easily testable solution and why Cloud-based DR met his needs and enabled his organization to protect their critical systems.

What you will learn:

- Traditional DR solutions were cost-prohibitive, untested and untrusted. When a disaster hits, be that a natural or technological disaster, it was a laborious process to stand your environment back up.

- With cloud-based RaaS, customers can protect and recover entire applications using consistency groups and self-service management consoles to control their declaration experience and recover faster.

- Both In-Cloud and To-Cloud RaaS solutions offer a more streamlined, testable process whether you need to protect apps hosted in the cloud or on-premise.
